” I visited a number of Kindy’s before I choosing Shalom for our son. The caring and warmth that each of the teachers showed to the children is humbling. It was the sincerity in the smiles and the kindness in the small things that made me realise that Shalom was different to other centres. I appreciated being respected as a ‘ mother who knows her child’ when it came to deciding the number of hours/attendance. The variety of handmade and imaginative crafts there were offered and encouraged was excellent and enables our son to try new things (other than spending all his time in the sandpit). I liked the ‘everyone together’ approach by having an inside and outside time to each session.

Special initiatives like a sharing table and parent resource library are there because teachers really care and want to support parents in the often hard road of growing small people to be great happy people.

Ten weeks into a very stressful and complicated experience, we came across the Shalom Kindy.

To be blessed by such a grounded and wholesome set of values and to find leadership expressing that so congruently. With a team so effectively carrying out that mission, was a tipping point in our experience. Shalom Kindy has been a key part of settling our youngest into NZ life.

I am writing to express my thanks and love to you and all the fabulous teachers at Shalom. Edward has now been at school for a term. He loves it. The pre-school education that Edward received at Shalom has prepared him to take on the challenges of school life with confidence and capability.

All of our three children, Charlotte (9 ½), Ella (7) and Edward (5) have exclusively attended Shalom Kindergarten. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know why Shalom was such a very special place to our family:

The love, care and support from the teachers of the children and their families.
The Christian faith and attitude which permeates throughout the centre.
The outstanding adaption of New Zealand Curriculum.
Shalom’s desire to review and reflect on their practices and keep making progress and improving the early learning they provide.
The crazy, silly, fun play that kids … and adults love.
As parents, we feel that we had been listened to and our children were understood.
The indoor play and outdoor play structure provided different ways for our children to experiment with play outside of their comfort area.
The gradual increase of responsibility and accountability expected of the children as they headed towards school.

We could go on! Shalom was a true blessing to our family, as it will continue to be to others.

Over the past 5 years my daughters have attended Shalom daily, and to say they enjoyed their time there is an understatement! They both thrived in the environment. The wonderful teachers make each and every child feel special, unique and cater to each individual child’s needs, emotionally and academically.
Each and every one of the teachers have become extremely special to not only my daughters but myself also. They are always welcoming and friendly with time to spare if you were in need of advice. They say it takes a village to raise a child and Shalom definitely delivered that to my very, very high expectations.
